Hi, I’m Julie! I travel full time as a digital nomad.
First, let me introduce myself properly: My name is Julie Astrid Thomsen, I’m 29 years old and from Copenhagen, Denmark. I travel most of the year as a digital nomad working remotely. Even though I do have periods of time “at home” in Denmark I consider myself a full time traveller.
I started my blog Travel with Julie in July 2023 as a passion project because I want to share my experiences and travel tips to hopefully make your life and travel preparations easier.
My travel lifestyle officially began in August 2021 when most of the world was still in lockdown. I was backpacking with my boyfriend while living off the money from our savings. Back then, only a few countries were open for visitors with a number of precautions such as frequent tests, vaccine certificates and mandatory quarantines.
When I returned home I had a feeling that I wasn’t finished with long term travel. I quickly started researching if I could somehow incorporate travel into my lifestyle. That’s when I stumbled upon the term: Digital Nomad. I was Inspired.
I started searching for jobs that would allow me to travel while working and I started my own company as a freelance journalist, editor and copywriter. As soon as I had found enough work to create a sustainable income, my boyfriend and I set off to travel as digital nomads. I still have the same company and the same clients as I did a year ago when I started, though I have added another client to the list.
Since 2021 I have visited Thailand, Sri Lanka, The Maldives, Indonesia, Australia, Iceland, Singapore and Malaysia and I plan on adding many more to my list as I continue to travel full time while I work on the go as a digital nomad. I strive to se the world as “slow travel”, which means taking my time to experience a place and a culture properly instead of quickly jumping from place to place.
I can’t wait to bring you along on my journeys. I hope that my content will make you feel inspired to embark on your own adventures, whether it be for a week or two on holiday or a nomadic travel life style of your own!
