Hi, I’m Julie! A full time traveller and passionate scuba diver – read on to learn more about me.
I am a passionate traveller and scuba diver, and I try to combine the two as often as possible. I have been travelling full time for over three years – most of which I worked remotely to fund my adventures. In 2024 I became a certified PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor in Gili Trawangan. And I look forward to see what the future brings as a professional scuba diver.
I started my blog Travel with Julie in July 2023 as a passion project because I want to share my experiences and travel tips. I hope to inspire and make your life and travel preparations easier. Since then it has evolved to also sharing my biggest hobby; scuba diving.
My travel lifestyle officially began in August 2021 when most of the world was still in lockdown. I was backpacking with my boyfriend while living off the money from our savings. Back then, only a few countries were open for visitors. And there were a number of precautions such as frequent tests, vaccines, and quarantines.
When I returned home I had a feeling that I wasn’t finished with long term travel. I quickly started researching if I could somehow incorporate travel into my lifestyle. That’s when I stumbled upon the term: Digital Nomad. I was Inspired.
I started searching for jobs that would allow me to travel while working and I started my own company as a freelance journalist, editor and copywriter. When I had enough work to create a sustainable income, my boyfriend and I set off to travel full time. I still have the same company and the same clients as I did a year ago. But I am open to working with new clients.
Where I have been and where I am going
Since 2021 I have visited Thailand, Sri Lanka, The Maldives, Indonesia, Australia, Iceland, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam and Cambodia. And I plan to experience many more as I continue to travel full time while I work remotely. I strive to se the world as “slow travel”. To me, this means taking my time to experience a place and a culture properly. And because of that, I try to avoid quickly jumping from place to place.
I can’t wait to bring you along on my journeys. And I hope my content will make you feel inspired to embark on your own adventures. Whether it be for a week or two on holiday, a nomadic travel life style, or a life as a professional scuba diver!
Now you know more about me. I hope you want to continue reading my blog. And you can always feel free to contact me anytime here.
